Flashback Thursday

I know I have been really rather quiet lately, but I have been busy and it’s really likely not going to get much better over the next week or so. I do have one more guest post that is scheduled for tomorrow so do be sure to come back and check that out.  It’s a great one!  And then I have my final giveaway for an Onya Baby ending Saturday night.  So if you haven’t done so be sure to enter to win that.

But since we are coming to the end of my Blogiversary I was looking back in the archives and wanted to share some insights into two posts that I wrote one year ago today.  One was Virginia Beach Dreaming and the other was Should Children Be Banned From Restaurants?

Virginia Beach Dreaming

I thought it was kind of funny and fitting that I wrote this post one year ago today.  Talking about the memories I had on family vacations to Virginia Beach in the summer.  Well, the reason I am so busy this week is we are preparing to take a family vacation.  We aren’t going to Virginia Beach.  I kind of wish.  Well, no not really.  The ocean water would be great for the big kids, but the two little ones wouldn’t have too much fun with that.  And I would be a nervous wreck trying to keep up with everyone in the water.

We are taking a nice relaxing trip out into the woods in New Hampshire.  I’m very excited and really can’t wait.  Even though it’s not the Virginia Beach trips I remember it can be something for my children to remember.  Maybe when they are all grown up they’ll be New Hampshire dreaming.

The next thing I wrote that day was a little current events I was commenting on at the time.

Should Children Be Banned From Restaurants?

I still agree with everything I said in that post.  My children still behave appropriately in restaurants and there are still people who are way more annoying than small children.  I do wonder how that restaurants policy held up.  I wonder if they are still following it or they had to drop it because business declined.  Something to look into when I have more time on my hands.  Or if someone happens to know how that restaurant in PA is doing today after they banned children please share in comments.

So that’s that.  Kind of nice to know that a year later my views on things really haven’t changed.  I guess the true test will be 10 years from now though when I no longer have small children.  Will I still think small children in restaurants is appropriate?

Thank you everyone for celebrating my Blogiversary for the past month.  I hope you have enjoyed the guest posts and giveaways I have had for you.  This has been fun for me and I so enjoy looking back to the early days of blogging.  I have come a long way I think in my style and voice.

  1. I can’t believe it was even suggested that children should be banned from restaurants. How awful!

    • It was more than suggested, it was an actual policy. I’m definitely going to have to look and see if it’s still a policy ;) . I think from my understanding their clientele was mostly adults anyways so it likely didn’t phase too many people, but still. I know kids don’t pay and it’s a pain to have special kid’s meals, but really I think instead of saying no kids allowed a better option would be not to have a kid’s menu. I generally wouldn’t go to a restaurant that didn’t have a kid’s menu anyways.
