Monica’s Picks For The Week

In making my rounds this week reading blogs I have come across some posts that I wanted to share with you, my readers.  Sometimes things just stand out and there’s information I like to share with you, but I’m not about to reinvent the wheel.  So if someone said it better than I ever could I want you to see it.

I’m all about safety these days it would seem.  Really, it’s just so important though and I’m always looking for the best way to keep my children safe.  And I think you should too.  So this week on Mom’s Talk Network there was a post about summer safety.  It’s mostly about water safety, but that’s such a huge part of the summer so it’s always important to remember how to keep our children safe in and around the water.  Supervision, supervision, and more supervision.

Well, I’m a cloth diapering mom.  So I love reading about other products having to do with cloth diapers.  When I started with cloth almost a year ago I did not give much thought to how I would wipe my little ones tush.  Then there was her first poo and I was using regular disposable wipes.  That was not working for me at all.  I was having to toss disposable wipes in the trash and cloth diapers in the wet bag.  So my solution was to start using those baby wash cloths instead.  And that has worked fine and I have even started doing that to help wipe up my 4 year old after he uses the bathroom.  He is always complaining that it hurts though.  And the baby cries through diaper changes.  Kangaroo Mama has introduced me to some Willow Store Organic Cloth Wipes though.  They look amazing.  I’ll admit, the price tag doesn’t look so great to me, but it’s nothing that I wouldn’t expect from any sort of organic cloth.  And hey, there’s an announcement of a giveaway coming up there so go check it out.  Maybe you’ll win some, although I’m hoping it’s me.

Over on Coupon Bible she compiled a list just for bloggers.  A list of blogger friendly companies.  For any blogger this is like gold because we are always looking for companies who like to work with bloggers so we can give our readers the best stuff.  So if you’re a blogger, then you’ll definitely want to check out this list.  Perhaps there is a company you’re not working with yet there that you should be.

I am not a fish eater at all.  My husband however works in the seafood department at our local grocery store and he’s always getting people asking him how to prepare fish.  So here’s a recipe for salmon from Maryland Momma’s Rambles and Reviews.  If you like salmon and barbeque sauce, then this seems like a nice twist on some fish for you.  Not my cup of tea, but I’m just weird and picky like that.

If you need a good laugh, then you will want to read what Grandma Juice had to say about that Time Magazine cover from a few weeks ago.  Okay, I know we’re all so over hearing about those mom wars and blah blah blah, but seriously this was hysterical.  Well, be sure you have your sense of humor hat on because if you’re an extended breastfeeding, cloth diapering, co-sleeping, baby wearing mama you might take exception to it.  Although, I am all of those things and I totally snickered throughout the whole thing.  It was just so over the top it was funny.

So there you have it.  My top picks for the week.  So what were your favorite blog posts you read this week?  It doesn’t have to be from me, although I would love to hear what you liked from me this week.
