Women Misogynists: An Oxymoron?

I have seen a lot of women calling other women in power misogynists and I can’t help but think it’s like saying Jumbo Shrimp.  It just comes off like such an oxymoron to me.  By definition, misogynist means a person who hates, dislikes, mistrusts, or mistreats women.  So for a woman to be a misogynist that would mean she would have to hate, dislike, mistrust, and mistreat herself.  And honestly, if that truly is the case then shouldn’t we feel sorry for her and not hate on her because apparently she already is doing enough hating of herself?

You’re a misogynist if you think that a woman who made a poor choice and drank too much was subsequently raped.  You’re a misogynist if you are pro-life because you don’t think women should get to make a choice in her body.  And you must be a misogynist if you are a model, porn star, stripper, or an actress who plays the part of a woman being brutalized.

The fact of the matter is women in general hate other women.  Hear me out on this now.  Because you women know this is true.  How many times have we played nice to another woman to her face only to say I can’t stand her behind her back?  Whether it’s what she believes, how she parents, how she dresses, or the stories she tells.  In every woman’s life there is at least one woman she has come across that she truly hates, dislikes, mistrusts, or even mistreats.  It’s our nature.  They don’t call them cat fights for nothing.  And honestly when you think of that one woman you truly cannot stand do you think any man could honestly dislike her more than you do?  I certainly don’t.  Women are brutal to each other.  And we’re even worse to a woman who’s in power.

Women In Power

Oddly enough the women who are being accused of being misogynists are women who hold a great deal of power in a man’s world and the women calling other women misogynists are self proclaimed feminists.  Isn’t that odd?

So any woman who’s in an industry which seemingly exploits women is a misogynist according to these self proclaimed feminist.  A woman who runs a successful fashion business is a misogynist.  And a woman who runs a sports entertainment industry like the WWE is a misogynist.  Never mind that these women employ thousands of other women.  Never mind that they put women in a position of power over men.

It’s all about creating women as sex objects though.  But what happens if the tables are turned?  What if the successful business woman is parading men around on a stage in skimpy outfits?  What if a man is being hit and slapped and sexually assaulted by a woman for entertainment purposes?  Is that just good business sense?  Are we just supposed to accept that?  Why, because men are stronger than women?  They can handle it?  Well, that sort of thinking just takes the feminist movement back 100 years here people.

If we want equality, then we should be willing to accept it in all forms.  We can’t cry brutalization against women in an industry and then say nothing about what’s happening to the men.  Or we could just realize that a woman who makes money off of what sells (sex) is just a good business woman and give her props for making it work.  For turning the tables and giving something for the women to enjoy too.

Lets Not Be Naive

Sex sells people.  Whether you want to believe it or not.  It sells big.  EL James wrote a trilogy of books called Fifty Shades of Grey which has seen two of the books on the New York Times best seller list for 31 weeks and one of the books for 30 weeks.  It is currently ranked numbers 2, 3, and 4 on the New York Times best seller list.

Why?  It’s not a well written book.  It is my understanding that it is either loved or hated.  But it has reached this cult phenomenon with women.  A book written by a woman, for women, about sex.  And EL James is raking it in on this.  And the entire story line is based on a man who dominates a woman, yet women are eating this up.  Women want to see this sort of stuff just as much as men do, if not more.

Don’t think that these books aren’t going to end up as a movie either because with how wildly popular and simple they are it very well could end up in the movie theaters before too long.  And another woman actress will take on the part and will support the brutalization of women all in the name of the almighty dollar.

It Is Not Misogyny It’s Business

Lets not be confused here people.  Just because a woman is in an industry which for the most part has made money off of the exploitation of women, that does not mean she’s a misogynist.  It simply means she’s a good business woman.  And she’s an even better business woman if she also then takes an industry which is predominately paid for by men and gets women to be interested in it.

I can’t say that I have seen a woman as a misogynist.  I definitely have to wonder sometimes about some of these self proclaimed feminists.  They want women to be in power, but only in a certain kind of power, but then they also want to be treated like fragile flowers.  It’s okay for a woman to slap, hit, or punch a man, but he should never lay a hand on a woman for any reason.  And I’m not saying a man should.  I tell my son and my daughters that we do not put our hands on anyone for any reason.  My son should never have to take abuse from his sisters and my daughters shouldn’t have to take it from their brother.  Not because one is weaker than the other or ones a girl and ones a boy, but because we don’t solve things with violence.  We need to use our words.

Women, we just can’t have it both ways.  We cannot say we want to be treated the same as men, but then cry and complain that something is not fair because we are women.  That is not what feminism stands for.  A woman in a job of power where she makes money off of male domination is not a misogynist simply because of that.  Lets look at the woman as a whole.  What has the company become since she has been in charge?  Where is it headed?  Lets listen to the women who work for her and hear if they think she was a decent and fair boss.  Lets not judge her based on the industry she works in just because we don’t like how it portrays women.  Sex and violence is everywhere in our society.  Men and women are making money off of it, but that does not mean women are hating on women.  At least no more than any woman ever did hate on another woman.

So what do you think, can a woman be a misogynist?
